2006 Chase for the Pool Championship
Official Rules of the 2006 RacinHistory.com Championship Pool:
1. NO GAMBLING! The Championship Pool is purely for fun.
2. Game play of the Pool is simple. Pool Racers log into the Pool and pick a driver they feel will do well during the upcoming race. Racers have until the scheduled start date and time of the upcoming race. Racers have the opportunity to make picks into the future and set a default driver throughout the season, therefore, should the website be unavailable approaching race time, there will be NO chances to make picks or change picks via email. The driver pick loaded into the Pool database, or lack of a pick, at race time will be official. After the race, at the convenience of the webmaster, unofficial race results will be loaded into the Pool database using unofficial race results posted on NASCAR.com. When official race results are posted on NASCAR.com, generally on the following Wednesday, Pool race results will be reviewed and any changes discovered will be changed to match official race results. Additionally, this review of official results and the Pool database will occur periodically throughout the season to protect the integrity of the Pool database. Pool Racers will earn all the points of the driver they picked as loaded in the Pool database at race time, to include five bonus points for leading a lap and five bonus points for leading the most laps, according to official NASCAR rules. Should NASCAR impose driver point penalties due to rule violations, that penalty will also be imposed against the Pool Racers that picked that driver. Points earned during each race of the season will be collected towards a season ending championship. After race 26, Racers in the Top 10 will advance to the "Chase for the Pool Championship." The Lead Racer will have his/her points total increased by 2000 points over the 11th place Racer. The "Chaser" with the most points at the end of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season will be named Pool Champion. Should there be a tie amongst Racers; the first tie breaker will be the most "Wins", then most "Top 5's", and finally most "Top 10's." If a tie still exists among two Racers, a coin flip will be made by the webmaster. If more than two Racers are still tied after all the tie breakers, those Racer's names will be placed in a hat and one winner will be drawn by the webmaster.
3. Once the Chase Racers are identified, the remainder of the field will, and should continue to compete. Just as in NASCAR Nextel Cup racing, the 11th place Racer will be rewarded with a prize to be determined later as the "Top Outsider" of the Pool.
4. For Racers that sign up after the season begins, while they will be eligible for the total points championship, they will be at a distinct disadvantage. Therefore, a second championship will be conducted, looking for Racers with the highest average points per week. Racers with the exception of the Chase Racers, will be eligible, including players that signed up for the Pool before the season began, but to be eligible, Racers must make at least five (5) picks during the season.
5. If a Racer fails to make seven (7) picks in a row, that Racer's user-id will be deleted from the Pool database and will NOT be reinstated under any circumstances.
6. Should NASCAR decide to make changes to the Nextel Cup Points System, those changes will be reflected in the Pool as soon as possible. Should technical difficulties delay the implementation of said point system changes, the Pool will continue using current rules until implementation can be made.
7. Should any incident occur that requires a judgment call concerning the progression of the Pool, that call will be made by the webmaster of RacinHistory.com and all decisions are final.
8. Any attempt to alter, affect, or otherwise interfere with the progression of the Pool during the season in any form or function will not be tolerated in any way. All visitors to this site are tracked by IP address. If any visitor is suspected of affecting the integrity of the Pool, that IP address will be banned forever. Additionally, the IP address will be tracked back to its source and the offending visitor's ISP will be contacted and their activities reported. If any laws were broken during an attack on the Pool, that visitor will be prosicuted to the fullest extent of the law. This decision will be made by the webmaster of RacinHistory.com and the decision will be final.
Now with that said, the Championship Pool is intended to be a free fantasy game to bring NASCAR fans together and chase down a championship using the talents of our favorite drivers. Have fun and "LET'S GO RACIN'!"
